It's one of the questions I'm asked most before a family photography session:

"What happens if my kids don't smile?"

Honestly? Don't worry - they will eventually! I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Every child is different and I never expect them to stand still and smile on command. Sometimes I'll take them off on a little adventure by themselves, tell a few silly jokes or simply let them run wild for a while. That's often when the genuine smiles appear.

And if they don't? That's okay too.

Some of my favourite portraits are the quiet ones. A thoughtful look, a cheeky grin or simply your child being themselves can create beautiful, timeless photographs you'll treasure forever.
